Athletes have higher physical demands and in order to perform at their peak, they need to be consuming high-quality foods and ensuring optimal nutrition. Sports dietitian Tara Boening, M.S., RDN, CSSD, LD explains why and how athletes should be refueling using whey protein.

Boening explains 100% whey protein isolate is an excellent option for athletes who may suffer from lactose intolerance, as it contains a very small amount of lactose. She reminds us that it is always best to get the benefits of protein from real food sources, like dairy, however she informs us that there are a variety of benefits from choosing whey protein.
