Tip from an RD - Dairy is Undeniably Great

School’s out for summer (come on, sing it with me)! And what better way to welcome in the warmth and delight of this season than with a celebration – a celebration of all things dairy foods and dairy farming. After all, June is National Dairy Month. And your local dairy farm families work hard every day to bring the deliciousness of dairy to your table.

Looking for nutrient-rich dairy foods to power your day? Start your morning with yogurt and granola, cereal and milk, or eggs with a sprinkle of cheese. Enjoy that mid-morning latte, grab an afternoon snack of cottage cheese and fruit, or pour a tall glass of ice-cold milk.

Counting on milk for important nutrients is as easy as counting the ingredients inside: vitamin A, vitamin D and milk. Simple, wholesome and real.

Beyond nutrition, dairy is “udderly” enjoyable. Savory pizzas, satisfying grilled cheese sandwiches, flavorful artisan cheeses – you bet it’s dairy. And nothing says summer like homemade yogurt smoothies, or a bowl full of your favorite ice cream on a hot, sunny afternoon.

Whether it’s your everyday yogurt, your post-workout chocolate milk or your occasional frozen dessert, dairy is undeniably great. I’ll toast to that! Raise your glass of milk (or that morning latte) and join me in thanking those hard-working dairy farm families, here locally, and across the country.

June 1 is World Milk Day! To celebrate, we would love for you to take a picture – of you, your family, your colleagues or your team drinking milk and post it to social media. The hashtag to use is #WorldMilkDay.
