  • 1 (12-ounce) package reduced-fat mozzarella string cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • ½ cup marinara sauce

  1. Position rack in upper one-third of oven and preheat to 350° F. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray. Remove cheese from packaging and reserve.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk egg until foamy. In a small skillet, mix Italian seasoning with bread crumbs. Cook crumbs over medium heat, stirring until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Dip 1 piece of cheese in egg until coated and then into toasted bread crumbs, coating completely. Dip cheese in egg again and into bread crumbs. Place on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining cheese and place on baking sheet 1 ½ inches apart. Spray cheese lightly with cooking spray.
  3. Bake 5 to 6 minutes or until heated through. Cheese may melt slightly and lose shape; press back into place. Serve with warmed marinara sauce for dipping.
