Ingredients

  • 1½ cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups half & half
  • 10 cups butter croissants, cut in 1-inch cubes 

Sauce:

  • ½ cup butter
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ cup whipping cream or half & half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large bowl mix sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg; mix in eggs, salt and half & half. Add croissants and gently stir. Pour into dish; press on croissants to absorb cream mixture.

Bake for 40 minutes until top is puffed and golden and center is set. Let rest for 5 minutes. Serve warm with sauce.

Sauce:
Whisk butter, brown sugar and sugar in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat until butter melts. Whisk in cream and stir until sugar dissolves and sauce is smooth, about 3 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Serve warm sauce over pudding. Store in refrigerator. To serve, microwave briefly until sauce is pourable.
